Welcome to Past the Prompt
For a couple of years, "AI" meant a chat box. You typed, it typed back, and then you went and did the thing yourself.
That's changing. The new tools don't just answer. They book the table, fill out the form, work through your inbox, and come back and say "done." Meta is putting one inside Facebook. Anthropic, OpenAI and a dozen smaller companies are shipping their own. They call them agents, and they're about to show up on your phone whether you asked for them or not.
The problem is that almost everything written about them is either hype from the companies selling them or deep-end technical stuff written for engineers. There's not much in the middle for regular people who just want to know: does it work, what does it cost, and is it worth my time?
That's the gap Past the Prompt is here to fill.
What we do
- We test them on real jobs. Booking something. Handling email. Writing captions for a business page. Running overnight on a goal and reporting back in the morning.
- We run them side by side. Same job, same day, same rules, recorded. Did it finish? How long did it take? How many times did it stop to ask?
- We write it in plain English. If your cousin couldn't follow it, we rewrite it.
The rule
Nothing goes out that we didn't actually try ourselves.
No reading a press release and calling it a review. Every video and every post on this site is built on a test we ran, with the result shown on screen, good or bad.
What's coming
First up is Meta's Muse, the AI agent that's now living inside Facebook, WhatsApp and its own app. Then Claude's new agent, and the rest as they drop. Each video gets a write-up here, so you can read it in two minutes if you don't want to watch.
An email list is coming for a heads-up when something's actually worth knowing. One email when it matters, not every day.
Welcome aboard.
